I have written hundreds of articles, ranging from straight news to features. I have also written sections of manuals, bios, speeches, press releases, scripts, advertisements, and other marketing materials.

Specifically for newsletters, I have written hundreds of newsletter articles and served in editor-in-chief and designer roles for the most part. Utah Association of Counties presently publishes electronically (e-mail) every Friday. Here’s an example of a newsletter I coordinated recently and, in this case, wrote all three main articles for: Click Here to view this example.
Wrote a speech for UAC President to deliver at a rally of many of Utah’s top elected officials pleading with President Obama to not designate any national monuments in Utah during the final days of his presidency. Click here to review the speech I wrote and he delivered largely word-for-word.
Ghost Writing for Others
Have ghost-written many how-to articles, blog posts, official statements, and guest editorial pieces over the years on for superiors and clients.
I wrote two chapters in the County Government in Utah resource guide, a publication for county officials that outlines all the duties and restrictions of their office. My sections were chapter 1, “Introduction,” pages 10-15 and chapter 22, “Working with the Media,” pages 204-212. I also handled the layout and design for the book, currently in its second edition. Click here to open up a copy of it.
I have written hundreds of press releases over the years, all the way back to my time as an intern in the Media Relations Office of Weber State University in 1995. Click here to see recent samples on my media relations portfolio page.
I wrote scripts for all eight of UAC’s animated video series, the finished products of which can be viewed here. I have also written numerous other scripts for corporate videos and radio spots dating back to 1996.
Wrote this for a professional speaker who needed an abstract for a publication of an event they were hired to speak at. She needed something creative that fit the flavor and mood for her otherwise “boring” topic of dental billing. Click here to read it.
Short How-To Articles on Marketing and Communications
I have written lots of articles aimed at entrepreneurs seeking marketing advice and tips. These are designed to simply wet their appetite and give them something simple to chew on as they launch their businesses.
How to Differentiate
Focus on Confidence, Not Cheap Solutions
I also wrote a series of weekly articles for Utah Association of Counties called Communication Cues, where I shared tips to help elected officials communicate better with constituents, colleagues, and the media. I can share examples of those articles with you upon request.
